About

Who we are

Prism Planning is a specialist town planning consultancy, based in the North East and working across the whole of the country, providing comprehensive services to property owners, developers and local authorities.

Working throughout the UK, our highly skilled team provides planning and development solutions to both public and private sector clients. We have a long-established record of delivering successful appeals and objections to meet our client’s project objectives.

As a small team, we are able to offer a flexible and responsive approach, with a greater client focus. You will only ever work with our knowledge Directors, who have over 35 years experience in both the public and private sector. Your project will be handled with focused attention and won’t be passed around a large team.

At Prism Planning, we are uniquely positioned to deal with a number of specialist issues affecting developments, particularly matters surrounding nitrate neutrality, anaerobic digestion and biodiversity net gain.

We understand that every client and situation is different, which is why our knowledgeable team tailor our services to meet the needs required. Offering clear and straightforward advice, we will advise on what is best for your project and particular circumstances to ensure a completely personalised and successful planning solution.

Steve Barker is Managing Director at Prism Planning. He has worked across many authorities in the north east, including Stockton on Tees, Hartlepool, North York Moors National Park and York City Council. He has also worked in the Environment Agency and brings a wide background to bear on planning problems.

Steve worked in the public sector for around 20 years before moving into the private sector which means he has an in depth understanding of the way in which the system works and the role of officers and local politicians. Before creating Prism, Steve headed up the planning team at BHP’s Darlington office.
